While watching a lecture Bruce Mau gave at ACAD discussing his Massive Change traveling exhibit he showed a clip of an interview with a man named Dean Kamen, whose company, Deka has developed many revolutionary designs. At one point Dean was discussing his process and used the phrase “kissing frogs” to explain the ever evolving ever changing process that designers go through to get to their final solution. This idea stuck with me and seemed to reflect my own design process so perfectly that I decided to use it as the heading for my blog. Here is to kissing frogs, aka working really hard and tossing around a million ideas before finally developing the perfect solution.
